My name is Henrietta Jones, I am a Solicitor at Grindeys, and I’d like to tell you why you should make a Will.
However large or small your estate it seems extraordinary to miss the opportunity to choose what will happen to it at the end of your life, when it’s so easy to make a Will!
If you die without a Will, the Rules of Intestacy will apply to your estate, and these may not be what you would have wished at all.
In your Will you can choose who will deal with your estate, and who will benefit from it.
You might appoint guardians for your children and say at what age they should inherit – with no Will it would be at 18 which is far too young.
You may wish to provide for step-children, or make special provisions for anybody who is vulnerable, perhaps because they are disabled or having problems with addiction or a relationship which is breaking down.
You might include funeral wishes.
You can make provisions in your Will to protect your estate from risks in the future, such as remarriage, or care fees.
It is so important to talk all this through with a Solicitor so you know what your options are and that you have done everything you can to make life easier for your loved ones when you’re gone.
The Dougie Mac Will Week gives you the opportunity to see a Solicitor for free, and if the Will is straightforward, to make it for free, or if if you decide a more complicated Will is suitable for you, we will give you a large discount. We will also review existing Wills if you wish.
It is also a fantastic opportunity for you to give to the Hospice in your Will, at no cost to you now.
Grindeys support the Hospice wholeheartedly, because on our many visits there we have seen the wonderful care they give to people when they need it most. Time and again we hear nothing but praise from bereaved families for the Hospice, and the comfort it brings to them to know that their loved ones received the best possible care at the end of their life is priceless.
Everybody puts off making a Will, don’t miss this brilliant opportunity to get it done, for free; ring now and make an appointment.
